Grand Isle plot

"Her unfulfilled passion was awakened on..."

The daily life of the American wealthy class, around 1900, consisted mainly of boredom. During a stay on the Grand Isle in the Gulf of Mexico, Edna (Kelly McGillis), married to the wealthy Leonce (Jon De Vries), meets Robert (Adrian Pasdar). Back at her estate in New Orleans, he visits her while her husband is on a business trip. Almost simultaneously, another admirer shows up, Alcee (Julian Sands). She doesn't realize that she is sinking into the lies and that she can't expect much else from life.
