Gomti Ke Kinare plot
Sameer lives with his mother Ganga and his maternal uncle, Nekiram. They live in poverty in Bombay. While Nekiram works in a gas station, his mother paints pictures and figurines of Hindu gods. Sameer grows up, becomes an engineer and ends up at Khosla Enterprises, which is run by Gopaldas Khosla. He proves his abilities and is soon promoted to chief engineer. He gets a bungalow and a luxury car. He meets Roshni, the daughter of Gopaldas. They both fall in love and quickly get engaged. His idyllic lifestyle is shattered when a rival businessman, Chaganmal, claims that Sameer's mother was actually Gangabai, a courtesan from Lucknow, who was never married, and that Nekiram is not his uncle.
