In the Pompeii of 79 AD, a few days before the great eruption of Mount Vesuvius, the wealthy Glaucus buys the blind slave girl Nidia, who was mistreated by her previous owner. She is very grateful to him and falls in love with him, but he is in love with Jone, with whom the Egyptian priest Arbace is also in love. Then Nidia turns to Arbace to ask for a magical potion that would make Glaucus fall in love with her.
