Gas-Oil plot
Early one morning, after a wild night out with his girlfriend Alice, truck driver Jean Chape (Jean Gabin) accidentally runs over a body stretched out on the road. He reports the incident to the police, but they suspect Chape himself and confiscate his truck. The dead man's widow visits him and accuses him of stealing sums of money her husband was carrying when he died. Jean knows nothing about the money, but does become the plaything of a number of sinister figures.
