Gabriel & Me plot
Jimmy Spud is a young lad who lives in the Byker Wall. Ever since his father threw him high in the air at South Shields pier, he dreamed of being able to fly, and in particular of becoming an angel. His father is brutal, but terminally ill. In addition to his mother, his philosophical grandfather also lives in their house. Jimmy is bullied at school. One day he goes to pray in a dilapidated and abandoned church and is visited by Gabriel, who advises him on how to become an angel.
