Four Letters of Love plot
Nicholas' family falls apart one day when his father William decides to dedicate his life to painting. William quits his job and moves to the coast. Meanwhile, Isabel and her family lead a charming existence on a nearby small island. When tragedy strikes her family, Isabel is sent by her parents to a convent school on the mainland. Nicholas and Isabel embark on their own individual journeys of sorrow and grief, not knowing that fate will bring them together.

Not my movie.
Perhaps a contributing factor is the cast, however rich, which strongly resembles a ragtag collection of lunatics, and far too many actors playing roles—but which ones, exactly? It also doesn't help that HBC, with her wispy hair, looks too much like Bellatrix Lestrange. Too bad for O'Shea and Skelly, because they're perfectly capable of playing their roles.
Furthermore, the story didn't really appeal to me, and I found it disappointing that there was very little of the beautiful landscape visible. The scene where Brosnan scribbles together his painting is perhaps the most beautiful; I found the rest rather disappointing.
