A man falls from the ceiling during a concert in a Bavarian Alpine resort. Both the man and someone from the audience are killed. Commissioner Hubertus Jennerwein is leading the investigation. Was it an accident, suicide or a real murder? He receives conflicting statements from witnesses and the local population. He wonders what the man was doing in that attic, and why the highly respected undertaker Ignaz Grasegger is suddenly so nervous.
