Flying Fortress plot

The English millionaire son and playboy James 'Jim' Spence Jr., is a big fan of military aviation. When World War II breaks out, he leaves women and booze behind and takes pilot training for the American B17A 'Flying Fortress' bomber. Jim, along with copilot William "Sky" Kelly, regularly participates in high-risk bombing flights over Berlin. On one of the return flights, an engine is on fire, which the pilots cannot extinguish. Jim notices a hole in the hull and in order to reach the home base he will have to close this hole in the air.
