The quiet life of the married couple Maria and Peter Bachmann changes drastically when they take seven-year-old Florian into the family. The boy was born from a previous relationship with Peter, but now that the mother has died, the child has nowhere else to go. The situation is extra difficult because Florian suffers from Down syndrome.
