Final Appeal plot
Perry is an alcoholic whose life and career as a lawyer appear to have been ruined when he is banned. His sister Christine has marital problems and shoots her husband dead. She tells Perry her story, but he doesn't want to believe it. He learns more from the police. His sister asks him to defend her, but Perry's suspension makes that impossible. Perry's co-worker, Dana Cartier, allows him to act as Christine's defender after all. Little by little, Perry finds evidence to support his sister and begins to believe her story.
