Fickle Women plot
While serving on the front lines during World War I, Calvin Price dreams of the day he can return home to Masseyville and marry his sweetheart, Janie Cullison. He expects a royal welcome upon his return, but is dejected when he encounters no one after the train ride. When he arrives home, his mother turns away from him in grief, and he discovers that Janie is engaged to Lin Sparklin. Shunned by the townspeople, Calvin eventually discovers that the Sparklin brothers have been slandering his reputation with tales of cowardice and drunkenness. Calvin confronts the brothers about their lies and forces them to recant. After the truth is revealed, Calvin becomes a town hero and Janie returns to him in remorse, but Calvin rejects her for Rosy Redhead, a childhood playmate who has remained loyal throughout his trials.
