Farewell Darkness plot

"Sometimes The War Comes Home"

An 18-year-old resident of Chicago, who used to be regularly assaulted by his father, enlists in the military and is assigned to Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his 4-year stay in Iraq, the boy realizes that his mother has committed suicide and he blames his father for it. Before he can resume his civilian life with his girlfriend after his term of service, he thinks he must first put his past right.
