Faithless plot

Carol Morgan, the spoiled 24-year-old daughter of a wealthy New York banker, refuses to accept that she has no money left. Due to the economic depression, her late father was forced to apply for a suspension of payments for his bank. Carol is in love with the advertising executive William "Bill" Wade whom she wants to marry, but he does not want to live on her money. However, Carol thinks it's impossible for her to live on Bill's annual salary and breaks off their engagement.
