Ever in My Heart plot
Mary Archer expects to marry her cousin Jeff when he returns home in 1909 after studying in Europe. But when she meets his German comrade Hugo Wilbrandt, she falls head over heels in love with him. The love is mutual. Despite her family's opposition, she decides to marry Hugo. He becomes an American citizen and they have a baby. When the First World War breaks out, however, he is taunted by practically everyone because of his German origin.
