Es Dach überem Chopf plot

The poor Caduff family lives with six children in emergency shelters in Zurich. Father Balz (Zarli Carigiet) drinks and is fired from his factory job, daughter Sofie (Erika Halm) is in questionable company and the sons misbehave at school and drive the neighbors to despair. Contractor Frehner (Willy Fueter) offers the family a favorably priced apartment on the first floor of a new villa. He hopes that the expected nuisance from the family will drive the constantly nagging Eidenbenz family out of the house in the ground floor apartment.
