Elizabeth of Ladymead plot

"Four generations of a British family live through their experiences in the Crimean War."

Ladymead is the graceful Georgian mansion that Elizabeth lives in while her husband fights abroad. Here, the viewer encounters four incarnations of the protagonist as she anxiously awaits her husband's return: 'Beth' from the Crimean War, 'Elizabeth' from the Boer War, 'Betty' from World War I and 'Liz' from the Second world war. In each period, her husband returns hoping to find his wife and everything else just as he left them. But the "Elizabeth" he left behind has been irrevocably changed by her experiences...
