In the year 1575, a wounded Miguel de Cervantes is captured by pirates. In Algiers, a gruesome death awaits him if his ransom is not paid and he devises a plan to escape. In the meantime, he discovers the power of stories with which he gives hope to his fellow prisoners. He also manages to attract the attention of the feared Hasán.
