Ein Langer Abschied plot

Ellen (Sophie Von Kessel) and Ralph (Tim Bergmann) have a loveless marriage, but there is something that holds them together: their love for their terminally ill daughter Rebecca (Maxi Mari Duck), who has leukemia. For Ellen, everything focuses on her daughter's illness, while Ralph takes a more relaxed approach to the illness. Then there appears to be only one solution, which is illegal in Germany: the couple should have a new child whose blood from the umbilical cord can save Rebecca. Ralph doesn't think twice about it, but has not counted on the desperate Ellen.
