Egy Tél Az Isten Háta Mögött plot

The film is set during a turbulent period in Hungarian history, in 1956 during the Russian invasion. Life in a small Hungarian mountain village, cut off from the rest of the world by the mountains and the snow, where everyone knows each other changes considerably during the harsh winter, because the cinema (the center of the village) no longer receives new films. The courier who brings the films has had a fatal accident. Two boys get their hands on old bits of film and start making their own 'films', by weaving together fragments of 'Battleship Potemkin', 'Das Kabinett des Doktor Caligari' and 'La Grande Illusion'. These 'films' provoke a revolutionary reaction among the simple villagers, while outside the village, without them realizing it, a revolution is also taking place, on a much larger scale.
