Duell mit dem Tod plot
In the midst of World War II, Viennese professor Dr. Ernst Romberg teaches physics. In his lectures, the teacher makes no secret of his hatred of the National Socialist regime. One day, he is promptly denounced and drafted into military service in 1942. He learns his military drill on a barracks square. When a comrade is sentenced to death for being on leave ten days too long and a strict, regime-loyal Lieutenant verbally criticizes Romberg in front of the assembled troops, the academic uses a low-flying attack to shoot his superior and escape.
