Germaine de Staël, daughter of a politician of the Ancien Regime, is a writer and has a personality that makes her stand out in intellectual circles. Benjamin Constant is a writer on political subjects, a member who is listened to in very liberal circles and who was appointed to the Bonaparte tribunate, against whom, however, he later opposes.
