Drunkboat plot

Vietnam veteran Mort Gleason (John Malkovich) tries to assuage his guilt with alcohol. He returns after a long time to his childhood home in Chicago where his sister Eileen (Dana Delany) now lives with her children Moo and Abe. Abe's dream is to sail around the world in a sailboat. When he has saved enough, he sees an advertisement for the "Kathy II" for sale at the corrupt boat dealer Fletcher (John Goodman). Eileen, however, is unaware of Abe's plans. When Eileen is out for the night and Mort is babysitting, Abe has the old boat delivered to their home.
