"What a life."
There is a theory that we should be born with a proportion of alcohol in our blood. That humble intoxication opens our minds to the world around us, lessens our problems and increases our creativity. Buoyed by that theory, Martin and three of his friends, all tired high school teachers, embark on an experiment to maintain a constant level of intoxication throughout the day.

Sad filmmaker.
Press proves that Thomas Vinterberg can also make light-hearted films. The uplifting ending even borders on a musical. This seems to have to do with the personal tragedy that the director had to deal with: his daughter died suddenly in an accident. According to lead actor Mads Mikkelsen, the cast tried extra hard to make the sad filmmaker smile. The end result is a somewhat unbalanced but strong drama with a dark comic edge.
You can guess how the film would have turned out differently, but it doesn't make Druk any less interesting. The whole fact that a group of teachers runs the lessons at a continuous blood alcohol level is already fascinating enough. Add to that a passionate cast accompanied by a world director during his grieving process, and you get a curious but highly entertaining film. A cocktail of tears and happiness. Perhaps less hungover than we are used to from the Dane, but delicious tasting.
