Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall plot

"A Picture Filled With Tender Romance."

In the year 1550 Sir George agrees to marry his daughter Dorethy to John Manners, son of Duke Rutland. Sir George signs a contact promising that the marriage will continue when she turns 18 or else pay a hefty fine to Rutland. But as the kids get older, George hears rumors of John's wild behavior in France. Sir George therefore decides not to marry off his daughter.
