Donskaya Povest plot
The film tells an episode of the struggle that the red revolutionary Cossacks had to wage after the civil war against bands of white reactionary Cossacks, who, like bandits, made southern Russia unsafe. In the center are Daria, a peasant woman who at first sight seems lost in the wide steppe, who is in fact a spy for the whites, and Chibalok, a simple, crude machine gun from the red battalion. This army unit and the soldier fall into the snares of the farmer's wife. Just before the start of the birth pangs, she confesses her betrayal. Chibalok is dismayed and follows his revolutionary conscience.
