Dombais et Fils plot

Mister Dombais loves his son dearly, whose mother died in childbirth when he was born, but he has no eyes for the eldest girl Florence. She will grow as quiet as a mouse and timid, always with the fear of her father revered by her and the devotion she bears for her little brother in his very fragile health. It is only many years later, after everything has already been destroyed, that the aging Dombais will realize the paternal love his girl has had for him.
