Dom s Bashenkoy plot

During the last winter of World War II, displaced people return to their homes. An eight-year-old boy, accompanied by his mother, travels by train. Halfway through their journey, they are kicked off the train because the mother appears to be suffering from typhus. At the station unknown to them, the mother is taken to a hospital, where she soon dies. Her son is left alone in the strange place. There is sorrow and pain everywhere, no one cares about him. He must fend for himself while the adults misbehave and chaos ensues due to food shortages. He should grow up in one day.
