Djöflaeyjan plot
A black comedy about the hard life of working classes in Reykjavik, Iceland who set up their homes in the abandoned bunkers and tents of British and American soldiers after the end of World War II. The elderly must fight to stay alive, while the young, filled with hope again, dream of dollars, rock 'n' roll and a western way of life. Devil's Island portrays the daily life of Karolina and Thomas, who live there and see their daughter Gogó and later their grandchild Baddi leave for the US in search of a better life. Based on a true story and Einar Gudmundsson's novel.
