In 1939, a ship carrying 937 Jewish refugees leaves the port of Hamburg with destination Cuba. However, that country refuses to let them dock, as do the United States and Canada. There is unrest on board and the passengers are so distraught that they think of mutiny and even suicide. A month after departure, the ship docks in Antwerp. In the coming years, the Nazis will kill a third of the passengers.
