Die Neuen Leiden des Jungen W. plot

The young Edgar (Klaus Hofmann) grows up without a father, leaves school and reads Goethe's 'Werther' in one go. He recognizes himself in the book, which has a major influence on his life, but is killed by an accident. In an effort to understand his son, his father retraces his steps, with the boy occasionally appearing to explain.
