Die Große Kür plot

In 1963 Marika Kilius and Hans-Jürgen Bäumler became world figure skating champions. Hans-Jürgen, however, hopes for a romance outside the ice rink. Not realizing this, Marika befriends the playboy Jonny King (Peter Kraus). Through a series of misunderstandings, the partners then get into an argument and decide to split up. Marika, on Jonny's advice, signs a contract with an American show and Hans-Jürgen commits herself to a Viennese ice cream revue. Their agents go to great lengths to bring them back together to continue their success.
