Die Frauen der Wardins plot
A chronicle of three generations of a Brandenburg peasant family from the village of Barnekow. Despite repeated attempts, the Wardins still fail to work successfully on the swampy grounds surrounding their farm. But after the Second World War, after the land reform of 1945 in the Soviet occupation zone of the GDR, at the time of 'developed socialism', the Wardins finally achieve success, both professionally and personally.
