Die Buntkarierten plot

Socialist-minded chronicle follows a righteous working-class family from the late nineteenth century until the collapse of the Third Reich. Guste is born as the daughter of a maid and is now also a maid. She has two children from her marriage to worker Paul. During the First World War, Paul is at the front and Guste works in a munitions factory. After the war, when Paul has returned, lean years follow during the crisis and the rise of fascism. Paul dies and during the Second World War Guste also loses her son.
