Die Andere Seite plot

During the First World War, the Germans and French lie opposite each other in the trenches. Young English Lieutenant Raleigh is assigned to Captain Stanhope. They know each other from the past. Raleigh is an enthusiastic officer, but his great role model Stanhope is drinking to hide his fear. In an attack on the enemy lines many soldiers are killed and Raleigh is confronted with the facts. Waiting for the counterattack is nerve-wracking.
