Hedonist James Buchanan "Diamond Jim" Brady has become a millionaire with his railroad supply company. He now spends his money on drink, women, music and a lot of luxury meals, which means that he now weighs more than 135 kilos. What's missing from Diamond Jim's life is a woman. Diamond Jim has had brief flings with the flirty Emma and her quiet look-alike Jane Matthews. But then Diamond Jim gets to know seductive nightclub entertainer Lillian Russell and seems to develop more than a friendship between them, or does his excess weight get in the way?
