Di Dasar Segalanya plot
An experimental Indonesian film about manic-depression. In a minimally furnished room, lit by a few brightly colored fluorescent tubes, a woman talks about her experience of this condition. Sometimes she smokes thoughtfully. At other times, multiple versions of her can be seen at once, sitting and walking, still and accelerated, moving forwards and backwards. These images are interspersed with representations of the mental states she describes in voice-over, in ten chapters with names such as 'The Fall' and 'Broken Branches'. Stop-motion animations show the collapse: in contrasting black and white a half-naked man staggers over bare ground, in close-up flowers and dolls burn, rats gnaw on a stumbling body, naked, bleeding bodies represent hellish lows.
