Dharti Ke Lal plot
The film is set in the fictional village of Aminpur in Bengal. Samuddev Pradhan is the head of a poor family. His son Ramoo is about to get married. In order to pay for the wedding, Pradhan must sell his grain stock to the miserly Kalijan Mahajan. This causes the family to go hungry, and leads to tension between the poorer and richer families in the village.
