Destiny plot

Ambitious Hamilton Burton convinces his father to sell their farm and move to New York so he can be trained to become a financial success. Years later, Hamilton, the most feared and unscrupulous man on Wall Street, rules the lives of his parents, sister Mary, and mentally retarded brother Paul. When Mary becomes engaged to Jefferson Edwards, a business rival of Hamilton's whom she met on the farm, Hamilton is not pleased. Mary ignores Hamilton's objections, and he ruins Edwards financially. However, this may lead to Hamilton's own downfall.
