Des Feux dans la Nuit plot
The Atlantic coast, 16th century. A remote fishing village lies lonely between sea and mountains. A few austere but well-maintained huts adorn the side of the mountain. The inhabitants try to survive as best they can. When Alan's father moves to a distant country for two years to work, Alan suddenly becomes the head of the family and has to take care of his mother and three siblings. A huge task for a ten-year-old boy who knows nothing about fishing. Stubborn, he perseveres and little by little finds his place among the adults of the village. It becomes his job to guard the big fires on the beach that the villagers use to dry salt at night.
