Der Ochsenkrieg plot
Berchtesgaden in the late Middle Ages. The cowherd Jula, daughter of the rich gentleman farmer Runotter, saves the life of Lampert, a young man. The two fall in love, but there is a problem: Lampert's father, bailiff Someiner has been at loggerheads with Jula's father for many years in a dispute over the grazing rights on the Hängemoosalm. But the old conflict over the ground is small in comparison to the violent feud that now erupts between the two involved. Because if the farmers do let their cattle graze on the disputed territory, Someiner orders the confiscation of the animals. When the farmers want to defend themselves, their chalet is set on fire. Only farmer Runotter is left behind and is immediately tried in court for sedition. And yet Lampert and Jula want to continue to fight for their love...
