Der Mörder Dimitri Karamasoff plot
The film is a separate adaptation of Fyodor Dostoevsky's book Brat'ya Karamazovy (The Brothers Karamazov). In order to marry his bride, Dimitri Karamasoff (Fritz Kortner), a lieutenant in the Tsar's regiment, has to pay 3000 rubles to his regiment in Moscow. Unable to pay the hefty sum on his own, he travels to his father to ask for support. But old Karamasoff has no time or money for his son. Every day he waits for the arrival of the prostitute Grushenka (Anna Sten), whom he wants to marry. In his distress, Dimitri visits the woman in her home and Dimitri and Grushenka end up having an unexpected affair...
