Der König und Sein Narr plot
When Friedhelm Wilhelm I ascends the Prussian throne in 1713, it brings a number of changes. The regent, also known as 'King Soldier', wants to implement budget cuts. That's why he makes several court clerks disappear. Jacob Paul von Gündling, a liberal scholar, is also affected by these cuts and has to leave his office. But he cannot yet imagine that this layoff is the start of a strange but great career.
