Das Lied vom Trompeter plot

Fritz Weineck, a working-class son from Halle, has loved music since childhood. First he practiced playing the harmonica and then played it for the pleasure of society. When his friend Alfons returns paralyzed from the war, he gives Fritz his trumpet, which has become useless to him. Fritz becomes the 'little trumpeter' for his comrades, who use his instrument for political purposes as a signal horn, in a desperate struggle for workers' rights after the fall of the Empire. But then, through his fault, a comrade is killed in the struggle for a weapons depot.
