Derek, a professor of paradoxical logic, is married to Audrey, a successful writer of women's novels. Painter Robert is married to Loes, mechanic of engines and proud owner of a thoroughbred horse. While Robert is preparing an exhibition in Rotterdam, his wife earns a living. At first glance, the two couples seem to live in harmony. However, it soon becomes apparent that they irritate each other, which leads to surprising complications.
