Cynthia Warren has become independent and wealthy because she is a capable illustrator and poster artist. Cynthia rebels against the idea that every woman is destined to marry and achieve motherhood. She decides that she has just as many rights as a man in marriage. Leaving behind her quiet and dull husband Randolph Morgan, Cynthia leaves for Paris. New York harbor is barely out of sight when Cynthia falls into the arms of smooth Englishman William Lawton, a no-nonsense guy who's already married.
