Great movie from Lee again. Slowly starting to become a favorite.

Anyway, the film is sometimes a bit long-winded, especially in the beginning it took a while before I really got into the film. Fortunately, Clockers is a film that actually becomes more and more fascinating as it progresses. Now I have to say that I have a bit of a soft spot for these kinds of ghetto movies, and also for hip-hop music, but Lee really delivers his story in a compelling way, with many original, impressive scenes and captivating dialogue.

In any case, visually I think this is the best I know of Lee. Just about every scene is nicely colorful, and often provided with beautiful lighting, which really gives the film something extra. The ending with that sepia glow is especially beautiful. Soundtrack is also very good overall. The hip-hop songs are very nice (that scene with Outta Here ), and the other music is also quite atmospheric. Reminded me a lot of the 25th Hour soundtrack, even thought it was the same theme for a moment.

Excellent film, so far a good 4.0*.

Beautifully shot urban drama from Spike Lee with an emotionally solid story. Its strength lies in the strong character development and the stunning acting.

Credible big city drama through solid dialogues and convincing acting. No theme, from racism to drugs to justice, gets the upper hand, so that the moralizing finger does not reach too high. Antiheroes arise naturally on both sides (ghetto boys and police). So kudos to Lee, but it's not a masterpiece.
