Cirque Hollandais plot

Hendrik van Baalen, owner of the 'Cirque Hollandais', returns to the Netherlands after many years of wandering, where his brother is a farmer. Since things have gone very badly for him after the death of his wife and he has turned to drink, he asks his brother for money by letter. He has set his sights on the schoolgirl of his circus, who pretends to love him, but has an amour with the wrestler, with whom she tries more and more to make the director drink in the hopes later. to take over his possessions for an apple and an egg.
