"The Life of Painter Jang Seung-up."
A Korean artist during the chaotic second half of the 19th century. The historical character whose wanderings coincide with the disturbances of the Chosun Empire was the very incarnation of art. The Chosun Dynasty has lasted for over 500 years and is the longest lasting in history. The splendor of its culture was embodied in the introduction to neo-Confucianism, the development of an elite simulated by the examination of the State, the rise of the Yangban Aristocracy and the creation of the national writing system 'Han Geul'.
