Chauranga plot
Fourteen-year-old Santu belongs to a low caste in a rural Indian community and wants nothing more than to go to school, just like his brother. His mother is a maidservant of the village chief, from an upper caste, with whom she has a secret and dangerous affair. When Santu's brother returns from boarding school, he tells Santu about boarding school and city life. But Santu's fate has already been decided and he seems unable to escape from his low position. And then he falls head over heels for a young girl from a higher caste, which unwittingly puts the relations within the village on edge.
