Chacun pour Soi plot
Two twenty-somethings without any significant diploma are doing their compulsory military service. In order not to have to stamp after their army time, they try to get a permanent job as a soldier. But even in the army people no longer accept people without a diploma. Unemployed, the two friends no longer dare to face their parents and so they hide in a campsite on the northern French coast. There they befriend their neighbours, Anna and Françoise. A love affair develops between Françoise and Nicolas, which allows Nicolas to put his social problems aside for a while. Eventually he moves in with Françoise and tries to find a job. Meanwhile, without his former friend, Thierry languishes in solitude.
